Goa inaugurates India’s First Commercial 3D Printers – Ushering a New Era in High-Tech Manufacturing

Old Goa, May 07, 2023: In a major push towards next-generation manufacturing, India’s first commercial deployment of advanced 3D printing technology has been launched in Goa. The Advanced Additive Manufacturing Facility by Nirmitsu Design Labs, developed in partnership with 3D Systems, the world’s first 3D printing solutions company for Aerospace, Defence, Foundry, and Tooling industries, marks a decisive step in aligning Goa’s industrial growth with India’s national goals for advanced technology and self-reliance.

The facility was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Minister for Information Technology, Electronics & Communications, Government of Goa Shri Rohan A. Khaunte in the presence of Shri Rajesh Faldessai, Hon’ble MLA, Cumbarjua; Shri Anand Dingankar, Zonal Manager, Bank of Maharashtra; Shri. Rajesh Sheth, Co founder of Nirmitsu Design Labs; Shri. Iraj Sheth, Co-founder & Director of Nirmitsu Design Labs and Shri Deelip Menezes, Managing Director, 3D Systems India.

Shri. Khaunte’s proactive leadership has been instrumental in anchoring Goa’s position on India’s high-tech map—especially in accelerating investments into electronics manufacturing, industrial innovation, and hardware ecosystems. During his address at the event, he emphasized, “Our vision is to drive economic growth and create job opportunities through Industry 4.0, along with progressive startup and IT policies, and the development of the Electronic Manufacturing Cluster in Tuem. We are focused on cultivating a knowledge-driven economy and ensuring that the talent in our state is equipped with the necessary skills. The introduction of 3D printing is a glimpse into the future, and we encourage academia and researchers to explore new avenues. Nirmitsu’s entry into Industry 4.0 and the launch of their tech-savvy enterprise is a great example of what’s possible. The future of Goa is being shaped through 3D printing, and we are eager to collaborate to build a better tomorrow for the state.”

The facility featured two advanced 3D printers—the EXT Titan 1070 Pellet Extrusion System and the Figure 4 Standalone Resin 3D Printer. These cutting-edge systems enable high-speed, precision manufacturing of high-performance plastic and composite parts, meeting the complex demands of critical sectors such as aerospace and defence.

The significance goes beyond technology. By basing this facility in Goa, Nirmitsu Design Labs is catalysing a new industrial corridor of innovation, employment, and entrepreneurship. Goa’s Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) in Tuem is envisioned to host such next-gen ventures, supported by government policies and infrastructure tailored for advanced industries.

Mr. Iraj Sheth, Co-founder & Director of Nirmitsu Design Labs, expressed, “Today, we are not just opening doors for builders—we are opening doors to purpose and innovation. It’s about turning ideas into real impact. Our facility is carefully designed to bring technology, design, and production together in perfect harmony. With these tools, we can work more efficiently and effectively. Our vision is to become a global provider of advanced 3D printing solutions, making a difference on a larger scale.”

With a focus on sustainability, rapid prototyping, and decentralised production, Nirmitsu aims to offer on-demand manufacturing solutions that reduce supply chain dependence and accelerate innovation.

Shri. Deelip Menezes, Managing Director, 3D Systems India, added “We have signed an MOU with Nirmitsu Design Labs to support their startup in advancing applications, as this is a key area where we can make a meaningful contribution. We have supplied these 3D printers and are excited to work closely together as a team to make this a success.”
This move also unlocks opportunities for startups, MSMEs, and young innovators in Goa to access industrial-grade prototyping and production. It reflects the Government of Goa’s vision to integrate industry, innovation, and education as part of a unified growth strategy.

The Department of Information Technology, Electronics & Communications, Government of Goa, views the launch as a catalyst for strengthening India’s advanced manufacturing and IT hardware ecosystem, with Goa playing a strategic role in driving high-end industrial production and enabling an innovation-led economy.
