Kalachetana Invites Department of Information & Publicity to Watch NEP-Based Drama “Kanni Novya Yugachi”

Kala Chetana Volvoi, a prominent cultural organization in Goa, has formally extended an invitation to the Department of Information & Publicity, Government of Goa, to attend its upcoming shows of the Konkani drama “Kanni Novya Yugachi”.

This comes after a two-year-long delay during which all performances of the drama were put on hold — despite the production having received full Government approval in 2023. The show, created to raise awareness on the National Education Policy (NEP), was initially supported by the department, which had cleared the script and sanctioned 12 performances across Goa.

However, after one email from an individual named Omkar Nagvekar, questioning the content without even witnessing the performance, the Department directed the organizers to keep all shows on hold, as per documents accessed under RTI.

Following this unexpected suspension, Kala Chetana had written to the department seeking both clarification and compensation. The department responded stating no such clause existed in the approval order. The matter was not pursued further at the time.

Now, after two years, the group is reviving Kanni Novya Yugachi in a more evolved theatrical form — blending elements of Tiatro and Natak under a new format called Tiyatak. Through an official letter, Kala Chetana has invited the Department of Information & Publicity and all concerned officers to attend and view the drama in full.
