Abu Dhabi / Dubai, UAE — The De Sequeira sisters, Giovanna and Erica, are rapidly emerging as two of the most promising young talents in the world of jiu-jitsu, earning international acclaim through their recent achievements in the United Arab Emirates.
Ten-year-old Giovanna de Sequeira captured a Bronze Medal at the esteemed World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship (WPJJC) in Abu Dhabi, competing in the -28 kg Infant/Girls Gi category. Representing ATRIXION Dubai and Insanity Jiu-Jitsu Academy, Goa (India), she demonstrated remarkable determination, technical skill, and composure on the world stage. Guided by respected international coaches Professor Luis and Coach Ronny, Giovanna’s performance stands out as a milestone in her early competitive career.
Her achievement is even more extraordinary considering her recent recovery from knee surgery just five months ago. Supported by her sister Erica and her coach Raunak Singh, Giovanna returned to competition at the Kickboxing National Championship in August before stepping back onto the global mat in Abu Dhabi. Her resilience and dedication have earned praise from her coaches, who describe her as disciplined, focused, and technically mature far beyond her years.
Meanwhile, her elder sister Erica de Sequeira continues to build a strong international presence in the sport. Erica recently participated in the World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship and completed advanced-level jiu-jitsu training at the distinguished Atrixion Academy of Sports in Dubai. She successfully earned a higher-grade international certification, reflecting her advanced technical capabilities and commitment to excellence. Her training under elite international instructors has elevated her skill level and positioned her as a rising athlete in the sport.
