Goa cannot be allowed to be led into moral chaos: JIH
PANAJI: Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) Goa strongly condemns the recently promoted event titled “Tales of Kamasutra and Christmas Celebration”, which was advertised to be held in Goa during the Christmas week by a Ludhiana-based organisation claiming affiliation with Osho. The event, which has now been called off following police complaints from various quarters, reflects a deeply disturbing trend that cannot be ignored.
Osho Foundation and Rajnish groups are known for promoting sexually explicit activities under the pretext of individual freedom and alternative living. However, inviting the public for an event of such explicit nature-especially during one of the most sacred festivals for the Christian community-is an unacceptable breach of moral, social, and cultural boundaries. This attempt not only insults the religious sentiments of Catholics in Goa but also raises serious concerns about an organised push towards moral degradation.
JIH Goa, President Asif Hussain said, “We stand firmly with our Catholic brothers and sisters. Any attempt to malign the sanctity of a religious festival, distort Goa’s culture, or manipulate our liberal ethos must be strongly resisted. Goa cannot be allowed to be destroyed or led into moral chaos.”
Goa’s long-cherished harmony, its respect for all communities, and the dignity of every Goan -especially women and children-must remain non-negotiable priorities. Sex tourism can never be the pinnacle of any economy, and the people of Goa will never tolerate such attempts to downgrade our social and cultural fabric for commercial gain.
JIH Goa demands that the Government of Goa take strict action against the organisers and ensure that such objectionable proposals are not entertained in the future. The State must remain vigilant so that its peace, harmony, and cultural integrity are protected at all times.
