Dempo Sports Club’s Jodric Abranches selected for India U-20 team
Dempo Sports Club is proud to announce that 17-year-old defender Jodric Abranches has been selected by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) for the U-20 Men’s National Team. Abranches will represent India at the upcoming U-20 SAFF Championship, held in Male, Maldives, from 23rd March to 3rd April 2026.
Abranches, born 12th July 2008, has become a mainstay in the national youth setup. A proven winner at the international level, he was a key member of the squad that successfully defended the SAFF U-19 Championship title in May 2025. Most notably, he showed immense composure by converting a crucial penalty in the high-pressure shootout victory against Bangladesh in the 2025 final.
The National Team is scheduled to assemble in Bangalore on 23rd March 2026, before departing for the Maldives the same day. As a product of the Dempo SC, Jodric’s transition from the U-17 and U-19 ranks to the U-20 National Team underscores the club’s commitment to elite player development.
