Porvorim Women’s Sports Fest 2026 Celebrates Women’s Empowerment with Record Participation

Porvorim, Goa: The Porvorim Women’s Sports Fest 2026 was inaugurated with great enthusiasm and community spirit at the hands of Rohan A. Khaunte, Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Government of Goa, and MLA, Porvorim Constituency. The inaugural ceremony was graced by distinguished dignitaries including Sandip Salgaonkar, Amit Asnodkar, Swapnil Chodnakar, Sonia Pednekar, and Vinit Parab.

The festival witnessed an overwhelming response, with more than 1,300 women participants from the panchayat areas of Salvador do Mundo, Socorro, and Penha de França. A wide range of sports and recreational competitions were organised, bringing together women of all age groups and backgrounds. The festival saw active participation across diverse age groups, including 18–30, 30–50, 51–70, and 71 years & above, with enthusiastic involvement from senior citizens adding to the spirit of inclusivity. The event showcased remarkable enthusiasm, discipline, and sporting spirit, creating an energetic and inclusive atmosphere. Meticulous planning and efficient coordination ensured the smooth conduct of all activities, making the fest a grand success while keeping the sporting spirit alive throughout the day.

The fest was held at the Salvador do Mundo Panchayat Ground on 3rd May 2026 from

9:00 am, onwards, featuring a full day of well-organised sporting activities. The fest 2026, curated by PORVORIM RISING, an initiative by Hon’ble Minster Rohan A. Khaunte. The event also began on a patriotic note, with participants paying tribute to Mother India by singing Vande Mataram, marking 150 years of the composition.

The event stood out for its seamless execution and high energy throughout the day, with senior citizens bringing a particularly inspiring presence through their active involvement. Their participation underscored the importance of lifelong fitness and added a meaningful dimension to the overall celebration of community spirit.

Rohan A. Khaunte, Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Government of Goa, and MLA, Porvorim Constituency, said, “The growing importance of women’s participation in sports and community initiatives cannot be overlooked. Platforms like this build confidence, nurture leadership, and promote a healthy lifestyle. Empowering women through sports is not just about individual growth, it drives the overall progress of society and reflects our vision of inclusive and sustainable development in Goa”

He further lauded the organisation and appreciated the efforts of all organisers, volunteers, and participants for making the event a remarkable success. Encouraging continued participation, he expressed confidence that such initiatives will inspire future generations, strengthen community bonds, and further establish Porvorim as a hub of vibrant and progressive community engagement.
