St. Xavier’s College held Job Fair to bridge student potential with industry opportunities.

The Job Fair recently held at St Xavier’s College, Mapusa, attracted a large number of final year students and alumni  to explore diverse career opportunities that were offered by reputed companies who had set up job desks at the College campus.   The Placement Drive featured a wide range of roles across sectors, including sales executive, human resources, social media management and creative fields such as cinematography, videography, and photography, trainee chemists, HR interns, business development, story tellers, accounts executives, etc., reflecting the evolving demands of the job market.

Prominent recruiters who participated in the drive included Museum of Goa, Make it Happen, PayTM Payments Pvt. Ltd., Jai Bhuvan Builders, S.P Bhandare and Assoc., Talent Diary, Nice2Educate, WHN Next, Weddings de Goa, Open Destinations Infotech Pvt Ltd., Fifteen73 Media, HVMG Consultants Pvt. Ltd., Bharat GTM, Counto Automobiles, Vistance Networks, The HR Strategists, Just Hospitality Depot, Geno Pharmaceuticals, Seonart, PBA Holidays, Crafting Memories, Finance Factory and CODEIT Infotech. The participation of organizations from diverse industries such as finance, hospitality, media, pharmaceuticals, and technology provided students with a broad spectrum of career pathways.

The  Drive was organised by the members of Training, Internship and Placement Cell of the College, headed by Ms Ruella D’Souza . The event commenced with a warm welcome accorded by the Administrator, Rev. Fr. Tony Salema followed by an inspiring message from the Officiating Principal, Ms Ursula Barreto, who encouraged students to make the most of the opportunity.  She urged students to choose learning over salary and to look for mentors over titles.  She reminded students to uphold the values of integrity and excellence instilled by the institution and expressed confidence that recruiters would recognize these qualities in the candidates.

The Drive was efficiently coordinated, ensuring smooth scheduling, and effective interaction between recruiters and candidates. The initiative aimed to bridge the gap between academia and industry while enhancing student employability.  “The job fair offered meaningful insights into current industry expectations for science students. I am grateful for the opportunity to engage with potential employers and explore career prospects.” said  Shalome D’Souza of TYBSc.

Alumnus  Shristi Sharma was appreciative of the opportunity extended to ex students and suggested including  more diverse recruiters for the next edition. The success of this placement endeavour underscores the college’s continued commitment to fostering industry connections and equipping students with the skills and exposure necessary to excel in their professional journeys.
