Nida Sayed conferred Green Journalist Award at Biodiversity Day Celebration
Panaji, May 22: The Goa State Biodiversity Conservation Award 2025 in the Green Journalist category was conferred on Nida Sayed, Principal Correspondent at The Times of India, in recognition of her contribution to environmental and biodiversity journalism in the state.
The award, by the Goa State Biodiversity Board (GSBB), was presented during the state-level celebration of the International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB) 2026, held at Zuari Hall, Lok Bhavan, Dona Paula, on Friday in the presence of Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, who is also the Chairperson of the GSBB, along with Pradip Sarmokadam, the GSBB Member Secretary besides senior officials, biodiversity experts and other dignitaries.
According to the GSBB, the award was selected by the Awards Scrutiny Committee constituted by the Board. The honour carries a cash prize along with a commendation letter and memento.
The annual awards recognise individuals and organisations working towards biodiversity conservation, environmental awareness and sustainable practices in Goa.
Addressing the gathering, CM Sawant appreciated the efforts of journalists, environmentalists and grassroots workers in bringing attention to conservation-related issues and promoting sustainable development initiatives across the state.
The International Day for Biological Diversity is observed globally to raise awareness about the importance of biodiversity and the urgent need to protect ecosystems and natural resources. The state-level programme included presentations, discussions and recognition of individuals contributing to environmental conservation in Goa.
