Tata Consultancy Services Launches the 27th Edition of TCS Rural IT Quiz in Partnership with the Government of Karnataka
The 2026 edition of TCS’ iconic quiz aims to raise awareness amongst students from smaller towns and districts across India
Recognized by the Limca Book of Records as India’s first IT quiz for rural students, the TCS Rural IT Quiz has grown into one of the country’s largest IT quizzes, engaging over 22.4 million students to date
BANGALORE| September 03, 2026: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) (BSE: 532540, NSE: TCS), a global leader in IT services, consulting, and business solutions, and the Department of Electronics, IT & BT, Government of Karnataka, have announced registrations for the 27th edition of the TCS Rural IT Quiz.
An integral part of the Bengaluru Tech Summit 2026, the TCS Rural IT Quiz will comprise a combination of online tests, virtual quiz rounds, and in-person competitions. The quiz is open to students from Classes 8 to 12 studying in smaller towns and districts across India. The quiz, however, will not be open to schools within city corporation limits.
Recognized by the Limca Book of Records as India’s first IT quiz for rural students, the TCS Rural IT Quiz is designed to foster awareness of technology and innovation among young learners. The quiz covers a broad range of topics, including artificial intelligence, cloud computing, business, and emerging technology trends, while highlighting the impact of IT across sectors such as banking, education, entertainment, robotics, media, sports, gaming, and social networking.
As part of the competition, eight regional finals will be conducted, with the winners progressing to the National Finals in Bengaluru in November 2026. All the regional winners and runners-up will receive gift vouchers of Rs 10,000 and Rs 7,000 respectively. The National winner and runner-up will additionally receive TCS education scholarships of Rs 100,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively. In its previous edition, the quiz attracted over 5.62 lakh participants from across 28 states and two Union Territories.
TCS has been organizing the Rural IT Quiz in association with the Department of Electronics, IT, BT and Science and Technology, Government of Karnataka, since the year 2000. The program has reached over 22.4 million students till date with an objective to enhance IT awareness amongst students from smaller towns and districts across India, keeping them updated of the latest developments in the world of technology.
