Union Home Minister Amit Shah to Chair 28th Western Zonal Council Meeting in Goa

Shri Amit Shah to also present the President’s Colour to Goa Police during ceremonial parade on September 7

Panaji, September 5, 2026: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah will chair the 28th Meeting of the Western Zonal Council and present the President’s Colour to the Goa Police during his visit to Goa on September 7. The engagements will bring together senior leadership from the western region and mark an important occasion for inter state cooperation and recognition of the Goa Police’s distinguished service.

The 28th Meeting of the Western Zonal Council will commence at 11:00 AM. The meeting will deliberate matters related to inter-state coordination, cooperative governance and sharing of best practices among the participating States and Union Territory. Presentations by the Inter-State Council Secretariat and delegations from the participating States and Union Territory will also form part of the proceedings.

At 2:00 PM, a ceremonial parade will be held at the Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium, Goa University Road, Taleigao, where Shri Amit Shah will confer the President’s Colour on the Goa Police. The honour recognises the force’s distinguished service, courage, commitment and professionalism and is among the highest distinctions awarded to a police force.

The programme will feature an Alankaran Parade, ceremonial Nishan presentation and a multi faith blessing by four Dharma Gurus representing Hindu, Christian, Muslim and Sikh faiths. A medal ceremony and an address by Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant will follow, with the programme concluding with a vote of thanks by the Inspector General of Police, Goa.

Among those attending the engagements will be Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, Maharashtra Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel and Administrator of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu Shri Praful Patel. Union Minister of State Shri Shripad Yesso Naik, Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly, Cabinet Ministers, Members of the Legislative Assembly, Chief Secretary, Director General of Police and other senior administrative and police officials will also be present.
