SPORTS MINISTER RAMESH TAWADKAR MEETS GOAN FIGHTERS ERICA & GIOVANNA DE SEQUEIRA
Minister applauds their achievements and assures encouragement towards their continued sporting journey
Goa’s young combat-sport athletes Erica de Sequeira and Giovanna de Sequeira recently met Honourable Sports & Youth Affairs Minister Shri Ramesh Tawadkar, sharing their sporting journey, achievements and aspirations for representing Goa and India at the national and international level.
During the meeting, the sisters spoke about their training, championship experiences, upcoming competitions and the challenges faced by young athletes pursuing competitive sport.
MINISTER APPRECIATES THEIR DEDICATION
After learning about their achievements and commitment to sport, Minister Ramesh Tawadkar appreciated the sisters for their hard work, discipline and dedication. He encouraged them to continue pursuing their sporting goals and expressed his willingness to extend support through the appropriate Sports Ministry processes.
The Minister’s encouragement comes at an important stage in the athletes’ journey as they continue preparing for higher-level national and international competitions.
ERICA’S GOLDEN SWEEP IN HYDERABAD
Erica recently delivered 4 Gold a standout performance at the South Zone Ju-Jitsu Championship 2026, held in Hyderabad on September 5–6, representing Goa. Her performance earned her selection for the Nationals, adding another significant milestone to her growing competitive career.
GIOVANNA ALSO SHINES WITH FOUR MEDALS. She also delivered an impressive performance at the championship with 2 Gold, 1 Silver, 1 Bronze.
Both Siblings are training under Coach Ronnyy at Academy of Combat Sports Goa (ACS-GOA).
A MOMENT OF ENCOURAGEMENT FOR GOA’S YOUNG ATHLETES
The meeting with the Sports Minister was an encouraging moment for both sisters as they continue working towards representing Goa and India with pride on major sporting platforms.
Erica and Giovanna expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Honourable Sports Minister Shri Ramesh Tawadkar for his appreciation, encouragement and willingness to support their sporting journey through the appropriate ministry channels.
