Action taken against unauthorised tourist Service providers at Mopa Airport

Panaji, August 7, 2025 – The Department of Tourism, in coordination with Mopa Airport Police, has taken swift action against three individuals for engaging in unauthorised tourist-related activities at Manohar International Airport, Mopa, in violation of the Registration of Goa Tourist Trade Act – 1982.

Mr. Shounak Suresh Arondekar, Nagzar Warkhand – Pernem; Mr. Khorajiya Sharifbhai Khorajiya, Navelim, Salcete; and Mr. Sandesh Suresh Shetye, Ozari, Pernem, were found carrying out illegal activities, causing inconvenience to tourists and obstructing smooth passenger movement. The individuals have been produced before the Department for further action under Section 2(g) r/w Section 26 of the Act.

Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Shri Rohan A. Khaunte, stated, “We remain committed to ensuring that tourists arriving in Goa are welcomed by verified, responsible service providers. Any attempt to disrupt this ecosystem will be dealt with firmly.”

Director of Tourism, Shri Kedar Naik added, “The Department is strengthening its enforcement mechanism to ensure that tourism services remain safe, seamless, and compliant with the law. We are working closely with law enforcement agencies to crack down on unregistered operators.”

The Department reiterates its appeal to tourists to remain vigilant and support regulated tourism practices.
