
Department of Tourism initiates action against unauthorised tourist service provider at Mopa Airport
Panaji, July 23, 2025 : As part of its ongoing efforts to regulate tourism-related services in the state and ensure a safe, seamless experience for visitors, the Department of Tourism, Government of Goa, in coordination with the Mopa Airport Police Station, has initiated action against individuals found violating the provisions of the Registration of Goa Tourist Trade Act, 1982.
Two individuals Shri Ashish Peter Fernandes (35yrs); and Shri Fairoz Ahmed Shaikh (39yrs) were found violating the Act. The offence has been registered under Section 2(g) read with Section 26 of the Registration of Goa Tourist Trade Act, 1982.
Their unauthorised activities were found to be detrimental to the smooth movement of tourists and caused inconvenience to visitors arriving in the state. The Department of Tourism reiterates its commitment to curbing unauthorised operations and promoting responsible, transparent, and law-abiding tourism practices in Goa. Tourists are advised to avail services only from registered operators and are encouraged to report any suspicious or unauthorised activity to the nearest tourism or police authority.
