Dr Pramod Sawant, Hon’ble CM, Goa, Inaugurates Sesa Goa Sponsored Artificial Turf Ground at Amona
Providing a boost to youth and sports in Amona, Dr Pramod Sawant, Hon’ble CM, Goa, inaugurated a newly constructed artificial turf ground at Amona. The construction of the facility was sponsored by Vedanta Sesa Goa- Value Added Business, as part of its YouTheChange, YouThePower initiative, for a project cost of over 1 crore. The facility boasts of floodlights and a fenced arena which will facilitate conduct of football competitions and other sports events, providing a vibrant space for training, competition, and community engagement.
The facility was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa, Dr. Pramod Sawant, in the presence of Mr. Saptesh Sardesai, CEO – VAB, Shri Gopal Surlakar – Zilla Panchayat Member, Pale constituency, Shri Sagar Kamlakant Fadte- Sarpanch, V.P Amona and Panchayat Members, along with local leaders, community members and representatives from Sesa Goa. Post the inauguration ceremony, the ground was formally handed over to Amona Village Panchayat and was followed by a friendly football match which witnessed Dr Pramod Sawant, Hon’ble CM, Goa, taking the field and encouraging the community to utilise the newly set up facility.
Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa, Dr. Pramod Sawant appreciated the initiative and said “I would like to thank Vedanta – VAB for providing the Amona Panchayat with this turf ground. The long-standing wish of the village youth has been fulfilled by VAB. Vedanta has consistently invested in infrastructure and skill development, and now, with a strong focus on youth empowerment, this turf ground will also contribute significantly to the fitness and well-being of Amona’s youth. It is a commendable initiative by Vedanta, and I appreciate their gesture of handing over this facility to the Amona Panchayat”
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Saptesh Sardesai said, “At Vedanta, we firmly believe that sports and physical development play a pivotal role in nurturing leadership, teamwork, and discipline among the youth. The artificial turf ground at Amona is a step towards empowering young talent and creating a vibrant, active community around our operations.”
