Flagged off the KTCL College Bus Service – marking a significant step towards improving transportation access in remote areas
Flagged off the KTCL College Bus Service, which will now cater to college-going students and faculty from the villages of Mhadei, Advoi, Pedani, Shigne, Pissurlem, Honda, Sankhalim, Parye, and Morlem – marking a significant step towards improving transportation access in remote areas.
The bus service was inaugurated in the presence of Shri Mahendra Pednekar (General Manager, KTCL), Shri Bikaji Phadte (Depot Manager, KTCL), Shri Gajanan Dessai (Project State Coordinator, DoE), Shri Umesh Sarnaik, Sarpanch Shri Udaysingh Rane, Dy. Sarpanch Smt. Rupali Gaonkar, and Panch Members from Bhironda.
For years, college students and faculty from these interior villages have struggled with inadequate public transport options, often walking long distances, depending on irregular private transport, or missing classes altogether, especially during monsoon season. The launch of this dedicated KTCL college bus service is a much-needed relief, ensuring safer, more reliable, and affordable daily commutes.
This important initiative is funded by the District Mineral Foundation (DMF) and operated by Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTCL). My heartfelt gratitude to them for addressing this long-standing need and helping bridge the accessibility gap for higher education in rural areas.
