
Goa Tourism Announces Cedric da Costa as King Momo for Carnaval 2026
Panaji, 9th January 2026 – The Department of Tourism, Government of Goa, has announced the selection of Mr. Cedric da Costa as the King Momo for Carnaval 2026, marking the beginning of Goa’s most vibrant and eagerly awaited festive season.
A resident of Aquem Alto, Margao, Mr. Cedric da Costa is a well-known journalist, emcee, former corporate banker, and a committed crusader for sustainable environment and eco-consciousness. Born and raised in Margao, with formative years spent across Curtorim and Panjim, Cedric’s life journey reflects a deep-rooted connection with Goa’s culture, heritage, environment, and people. Cedric is actively involved in environmental awareness, youth engagement, heritage education, and sustainable living initiatives, working closely with
school children, youth, and senior citizens across Goa.

Speaking on the occasion, Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Shri Rohan A. Khaunte , stated “King Momo is not just a symbolic figure but a messenger of joy and inclusivity. Cedric da Costa’s diverse background, strong connection with Goa’s culture, and commitment to sustainability make him a fitting choice to lead Carnaval 2026, reflecting our vision of responsible and regenerative tourism.”
Director of Tourism, Shri Kedar Naik , added “Cedric embodies the true spirit of Goa: creative, socially conscious, and deeply rooted in our heritage. His selection as King Momo 2026 aligns with our efforts to promote a vibrant, clean, and community-driven Carnaval experience for both residents and visitors.”
