
Improvement of Water Supply in Porvorim Constituency Inaugurated
Porvorim, 14th February 2025 – Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant inaugurated the Improvement of Water Supply to Porvorim in Bardez Taluka, alongside Hon’ble Tourism Minister, Shri Rohan A. Khaunte and in the presence of ZP Kavita Gupesh Naik, Sarpanch Bindiya Naik, Penha De Franca, Sarpanch Swapnil Naik and other Panch members. This is a significant infrastructure project aimed at enhancing water supply to Donwado, Quitla, and Salai in the V.P. Salvador do Mundo area of the Porvorim Constituency. The Inauguration of the water tank, executed by M/s. Wibro Construction involved the construction of a 650m³ overhead reservoir (OHR) at Dhonwada, along with a 300m³ sump and the provision of a 200mm diameter pumping main. This initiative is set to alleviate water supply shortages in the region, benefiting approximately 2,800 residents.
Speaking at the inauguration, Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Shri Rohan A. Khaunte, emphasized the government’s commitment to improving essential infrastructure in Porvorim. He stated “Water is the lifeline of every community, and ensuring an uninterrupted and reliable supply is a priority for this government. This project is a testament to our continuous efforts to enhance public utilities and provide sustainable solutions for our citizens. With the commissioning of this reservoir, we are addressing long-standing issues in the tail-end areas of the distribution network, ensuring equitable water supply for all.”
The project is designed to supply water for four hours daily to the affected areas, significantly improving the quality of life for residents. The Goa government continues to invest in sustainable infrastructure, reinforcing its commitment to the welfare and development of the state’s growing population.
