
IT Minister Rohan Khaunte reviews progress at EMC, Tuem
Pernem, March 2026: Hon’ble Minister Shri. Rohan Khaunte reviewed the progress at the Electronic Manufacturing Cluster (EMC), Tuem at a stakeholder meeting held on March 18, 2026. The review highlighted the Minister’s commitment to expedite project completion and ensure the site is ready for operational use.
The meeting was attended by Shri. Kabir Shirgaonkar, Director, DITE&C; Shri. Praveen Volvotkar, MD, ITG; Shri. Subrai Nadkarni, Chief Engineer, ITG; Dr. Milind Sakhardande, Joint Director, DITE&C and senior officials from the Department of Information Technology, Electronics & Communications (DITE&C), the Goa Information Technology Development Corporation (GITDC), Info Tech Corporation, Goa (ITG), Goa Electricity Department, Public Works Department (PWD) Goa Police and the Directorate of Fire & Emergency Services.
During the walkthrough, the Minister inspected the Warehouse, the Waste Management Building and other facilities. Shri. Rohan Khaunte emphasised the importance of completing the physical infrastructure, including essential utilities and common amenities, to ensure seamless operations.
The review allowed various departments to discuss logistical needs. Shri. Khaunte addressed specific requirements from the Fire and Emergency Services and the Electricity Department. He also noted the need for the installation of a communication/internet tower, instructing the stakeholders to follow up on these tasks immediately to keep the project moving forward without delays. The Minister highlighted the importance of continuing to maintain high standards of upkeep and security, ensuring readiness before operations begin.
The review concluded with the Minister emphasizing that EMC Tuem is vital for Goa’s future. By establishing this cluster as a dedicated electronics manufacturing hub, the state aims to attract new investments, create high-quality local jobs and strengthen Goa’s position on the industrial map of India.
