NoMoZo 7.0 Turns Porvorim into a Celebration of People, Purpose, and Progress
Thousands gather alongside Manoj Bajpayee to celebrate sustainability, heritage, innovation, and community ownership
Porvorim, Goa: On Sunday, January 11, 2026, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Marg in Porvorim was transformed into a vibrant, people-first festival space as the seventh edition of NoMoZo brought the community together in a dynamic celebration of fitness, culture, heritage, innovation, and creativity.
The street that usually echo with traffic was reclaimed by laughter, music, performances, and discovery, creating a rare, people-centric public space. Families, youth, innovators, artists, and residents of all ages immersed themselves in the festival’s diverse zones and activities, making NoMoZo 7.0 a memorable day for the entire town.
The celebrations were further elevated by the presence of renowned actor Manoj Bajpayee, who joined the community, interacted with attendees, and experienced firsthand the vibrant spirit and collective ownership that define NoMoZo.
Speaking at the event, Rohan Khaunte, Minister for Tourism, IT, E&C, and Printing & Stationery, Government of Goa, said, “NoMoZo has evolved into a people’s movement, one that reconnects families, communities, and public spaces. It reminds us how important it is to reduce pollution, respect the environment, and create platforms for local talent, self-help groups, artists, and young sportspersons. In today’s fast-changing lifestyles, NoMoZo encourages people to step away from traffic and mobile screens and return to shared experiences with friends and family.”
He added that the vision behind service roads, walking pathways, yoga parks, and town squares is deeply rooted in sustainable and inclusive development. Appreciating the efforts of the organising committee and volunteers, Khaunte said the success of NoMoZo this year and the previous years lies in collective effort and strong community ownership. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to taking NoMoZo forward on an even larger scale in the years to come.
Kedar Naik, MLA, Saligao said, “When I think of NoMoZo, the first image that comes to mind is that iconic photograph of our beloved Manohar Parrikar riding a bicycle, with Rohan Khaunte following behind him. That moment symbolised people-centric leadership and went viral for all the right reasons. Initiatives like NoMoZo deserve global recognition because they reflect vision, sustainability, and public participation.”

He added that even during the construction of the Porvorim highway, it was Khaunte’s foresight to include a service road, an idea that has proven to be both practical and progressive. “Consistency and commitment of Porvorkars is what make NoMoZo truly commendable.” he concluded.
Adding an extra spark to the celebrations, Manoj Bajpayee actively participated in the festivities and shared his reflections with the audience.
The Family Man actor Manoj Bajpayee said: “What truly stands out to me was the deep sense of responsibility and ownership shown by the people. No place or festival becomes great on its own, but it is the people who give it meaning. Goa is special because its people care for it, almost like one cares for a child.”
He highlighted the importance of initiatives such as no-plastic and no-motor zones, reclaiming streets for pedestrians, and encouraging simple habits like walking, cycling, and responsible waste disposal.
“These are not small actions; they are powerful decisions that shape our future. The world today is facing the consequences of environmental neglect, and tomorrow our children will ask us what we did to protect this planet. We must have an answer.”
He took time to interact with the public and was mesmerised with the traditional Shigmo parade. Bajpayee also praised Goa’s commitment to preserving its cultural roots.
Each Zone had participants and viewers who were making good use of time, learning something new or just enjoying a nice Sunday evening.
The Heritage Zone celebrated Goa’s rich cultural roots through traditional performances, indigenous art, and local crafts, giving visitors a chance to connect with local culture. The IT and Science Zone showcased innovation through live demonstrations of drone technology, 3D printing, and other interactive exhibits, sparking curiosity among children and adults alike.
Pet lovers thronged to the Pet Zone for adoption and grooming, while sports enthusiasts cheered on Goan boxers and martial arts pugilists.
Over 100 free stalls were provided to local vendors and artisans, creating a platform for them to engage with the community and showcase their products.
With over 20 thousand plus visitors, NoMoZo 7.0 stood up to its reputation as a community-driven festival that celebrates the talent, creativity, and spirit of Porvorim and Goa. Local bands, influencers, Goans and tourists made the evening lively with laughter, music, movement, and discovery.
NoMoZo 7.0 proved once again that NoMoZo is not just an event, but a celebration of what makes Porvorim’s community vibrant and connected.
