RATIONALIZATION OF POLLING STATIONS IN SOUTH GOA

Panjim: December 10, 2025 The Election Commission of India, New Delhi, has approved the rationalization of Polling Stations in South Goa District, which includes creation of new Polling Stations, deletion of existing Polling Stations, shifting of Polling Stations, modification of sections/polling areas, change in nomenclature of Polling Stations and change in Polling Station Numbers.

The entire colonies belonging to Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) have been demolished and the residents shifted to other Polling Stations. Accordingly, Polling Stations Nos. 4 and 5 of 24-Mormugao Assembly Constituency have been deleted.

A total of 7 new Polling Stations have been created. 2 each have been created in 26-Dabolim, 27-Cortalim, and 38-Sanvordem Assembly Constituencies. 1 new Polling Station has been created in 35-Velim Assembly Constituency. With the creation of new Polling Stations and deletion of two existing Polling Stations, the total number of Polling Stations in South Goa District (from 20-Priol to 40-Cancona) has increased from 906 to 911.

The proposal for shifting of Polling Stations in respect to 21-Ponda, 27-Cortalim, 29-Curtorim, 34-Cuncolim and 38-Sanvordem Assembly Constituencies has also been approved.

The Election Commission has also approved the proposals submitted by the EROS for modification and change in nomenclature of sections/polling areas with respect to 26-Dabolim, 27-Cortalim, 31-Margao, 34-Cuncolim, 35-Velim and 38-Sanvordem Assembly Constituencies.

Following the creation and deletion of Polling Stations, the Polling Stations number has been revised across the affected Assembly Constituencies. Nomenclature of Polling Stations proposed by the Electoral Registration Officer for 38-Sanvordem has been approved by the ECI.
