
Vedanta Sesa Goa Strengthens Fortifies Employee Health on World Diabetes Day
Bicholim, Goa: On the occasion World Diabetes Day, reinforcing its commitment to employee health, safety and wellbeing, Vedanta Sesa Goa – Iron Ore Goa (IOG), under the aegis of the National Health Mission and the Directorate of Health Services, Goa, organized a series of health intervention initiatives at its Bicholim site in collaboration with the Community Health Centre (CHC) Bicholim.
The initiative included a diabetes Screening Camp and Awareness Session for employees and business partners. The participants received valuable insights about managing lifestyle, preventive methods and early onset symptoms of diabetes. Other tests including Hemoglobin malaria, blood pressure were also conducted at the site, encouraging proactive health management among the workforce. The medical screening was facilitated by Dr. Siddhi Kansar (Health Officer, CHC Bicholim), Dr. Nidhi Pednekar (Medical Officer, CHC Bicholim) and Ms. Krutika Kerkar (Health Educator).
Further strengthening the health-first approach, IOG also organized a Breast Cancer Awareness and Screening Camp for women employees and business partners, with a focus on early detection and training on self-examination techniques. The session was conducted by Dr. Sneha Haldankar (Medical Officer, CHC Bicholim) and Mrs. Sulochana Chandroji (Health Educator – Cancer Awareness).
Dr. Siddhi Kansar (Health Officer, CHC Bicholim said, “Preventive health interventions such as diabetes & breast cancer screening are crucial in safeguarding long-term wellbeing. By collaborating with Vedanta Sesa Goa, we are able to extend essential healthcare services to employees and partners, fostering awareness and encouraging proactive health management. Such initiatives reflect the positive impact of corporate-community partnerships in building healthier workplaces and communities.”
Dr. Sneha Haldankar, Medical Officer, CHC Bicholim, stated: “Early detection and awareness are the most effective tools in the fight against breast cancer. By partnering with Vedanta Sesa Goa, we are able to extend this vital knowledge to a wider audience, ensuring that women employees are empowered to take charge of their health.”

These initiatives underscore Vedanta IOG’s commitment to embedding health and safety excellence into core business operations. The site has also been recently certified as a ‘TB Free’ mining site.
