Vedanta Sesa Goa Upgrades 15 Aaanganwadis in Bicholim Taluka

Bicholim, March 23rd 2026– Under the aegis of the Anil Agarwal Foundation’s ‘Nand Ghar Project’, Vedanta Sesa Goa-Iron Ore Goa (IOG) has undertaken the upgradation of Anganwadis across Bicholim taluka, reinforcing its commitment to advancing early childhood education in the region.

The initiative focuses on enhancing learning environments in Bicholim Taluka, enabling a holistic developmental experience for young children. As part of the initiative in Goa, 15 Anganwadis in Maem, Mulgao, Piligaon, Srigao , Dhabdhaba & Bicholim have been upgraded. Overall 30 Aanganwadis in Goa will be upgraded under the Project.
Each Nand Ghar is a model of transformation equipped with smart classrooms, digital learning tools, BaLA (Building as Learning Aid) designs, safe drinking water, hygienic sanitation, and child-friendly furniture, creating safe, inclusive and inspiring spaces for children aged 3–6 years. Beyond early learning, Nand Ghars serve as vibrant community hubs where nutrition programs for children, health check-ups, immunisation drives, and women’s skilling initiatives converge to foster healthier and more resilient villages.

Ms. Sharmila Walvalkar, Sarpanch, V.P. Piligao expressed her thoughts on the upgradation project and said, “The developmental work carried out at Goakarwada Anganwadi by Vedanta Sesa Goa CSR under Project Vriddhi is highly commendable. The upgraded facilities, educational resources, digitalization, and improved environment will greatly benefit our children and strengthen the foundation of early childhood care and learning in our village.”

Mr. Dhirajkumar Jagdish, Deputy CEO, Vedanta IOG, said: “Strengthening early childhood education is central to building resilient communities. Through the Nand Ghar Project, we are transforming anganwadis into engaging, tech-enabled learning spaces that support the holistic development of children. This initiative reflects Vedanta IOG’s commitment to creating lasting impact at the grassroots level.”

Nand Ghar, Vedanta’s flagship social impact initiative, has surpassed the 10,000 centers milestone across 16 states, transforming the lives of over four lakh children and three lakh women every day, nationwide. Aligned with the Government of India’s Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS), the initiative is helping transform traditional Anganwadis into modern, technology-enabled hubs delivering measurable impact at the grassroots.
Through the Nand Ghar initiative, Vedanta Sesa Goa deepens its commitment to fostering holistic progress through the medium of education. It has also been serving the communities in Bicholim through other CSR projects such as Aarogya for basic affordable healthcare, Vriddhi for promoting education and IT learning, Back to Farming for supporting the farmers and Jeevika for promoting vocational training amongst women. In addition, the Sesa Football Academy and the Sesa Technical School continue to nurture the aspirations of youth from across Goa.
