Porvorkars Join Hon’ble Tourism Minister & Porvorim MLA Shri Rohan A. Khaunte On New Flyover For Spectacular Goa Street Fest
Before regular vehicular traffic commences on September 11, Porvorkars gather on the new flyover for an evening of local culture, music, and community spirit.
Porvorim, September 10, 2026: The newly inaugurated Porvorim Flyover came alive with music, food, dance, and Goan culture as the “Goa Street Fest” brought families and visitors together for a special evening of celebration. Organised on the flyover ahead of its opening to regular traffic, the event gave people an opportunity to experience the new landmark in a unique and memorable way.
The Porvorim Flyover has been a long-standing vision of Hon’ble Tourism Minister & Porvorim MLA Shri Rohan A. Khaunte, who had earlier described it as his Dream Project for Porvorim. The vision began in 2012, when growing traffic and rapid development highlighted the need for a long-term infrastructure solution. The completion of the flyover marks an important milestone in this vision, aimed at improving connectivity and easing traffic movement in Porvorim.
Hon’ble Tourism Minister & Porvorim MLA Shri Rohan A. Khaunte said, “Dream is yours, the memory is yours, and this day is yours. Enjoy this evening and let’s make every minute a memory that we can take home with us. Today, we are standing on top of the Porvorim Flyover, while the vehicles are down below us. For this one evening, this space belongs to the people. Let’s enjoy it together, celebrate together and create memories that will stay with us for years to come.”
The Goa Street Fest featured a range of fun and family-friendly activities, including face and hand painting, drawing and painting activities, balloon art, Zumba and live music. Food and beverage stalls added to the festive atmosphere, while mascots entertained children and families throughout the evening. The event attracted people of all age groups, with children, young people, women and senior citizens coming together to enjoy the celebrations.
Hon’ble Tourism Minister & Porvorim MLA Shri Rohan A. Khaunte also joined the celebrations, interacting with families and children, taking selfies, and joining the crowd in a dance to the popular Goan song Maria Pitache, adding to the festive spirit of the evening.
The celebration also highlighted the strong connection between infrastructure, community and local culture. With the flyover set to take over regular traffic from September 11, the street fest offered people a one-evening opportunity to walk through and enjoy the space before it becomes an important part of everyday mobility in Porvorim.
The celebrations concluded on a spectacular note with a drone show lighting up the sky above the flyover, creating a special moment for everyone gathered at the event.
