Renovated Gram Sevak Quarters at Majikwada, Parye Inaugurated After ₹63 Lakh Refurbishment
Poriem, Goa: The renovated two-storey Gram Sevak Quarters at Majikwada, Parye was inaugurated following refurbishment works undertaken ₹63 lakh under the MLA-LAD Scheme, giving a new lease of life to a building that had previously fallen into a dilapidated condition.
The refurbishment has restored the existing structure and improved its facilities, providing renewed utility to the building. The project was taken up with the support of the Goa government, with the funds sanctioned for the renovation through the Public Works Department (PWD).
Speaking on the occasion, the local MLA Dr. Deviya Rane, expressed gratitude to Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and PWD Minister Shri Digambar Kamat for their support and for sanctioning the project.
Special appreciation was extended to Panch Arjun Gaonkar for his sustained follow-up and efforts in completing the necessary paperwork to facilitate the project. The collective efforts of the other Panchayat members, the Zilla Panchayat member and local BJP karyakartas were also acknowledged for their contribution towards ensuring that the refurbishment became a reality.

Proposal to Develop the Building into a Bal Bhavan
Looking beyond the renovation, Dr. Deviya Rane announced the intention to submit a proposal to the Hon’ble Chief Minister and the Minister for Art and Culture to explore the development of the refurbished building into a Bal Bhavan for Parye.
Highlighting the need for a dedicated space for children and young people to pursue cultural and artistic interests, the representative noted that Parye currently does not have a Bal Bhavan. The proposed facility could provide opportunities for harmonium lessons, music and singing classes, along with other cultural learning activities for the youth.
The proposal aims to give the renovated building a broader community purpose by transforming it into a space for nurturing local talent, preserving cultural traditions and encouraging the next generation to engage with Goa’s rich artistic heritage.
If approved, the proposed Bal Bhavan would add a valuable cultural learning facility to Parye, enabling children and young people to develop their skills closer to home.
The inauguration marks the completion of an important infrastructure improvement, while the proposed Bal Bhavan initiative looks towards creating further opportunities for the community. The development reflects the importance of coordinated efforts between the government, local representatives and community members in improving public infrastructure and exploring new avenues for youth development.
