Spirit of Goa 2024 Ends With a Joyous Vibe & Thrill

The highly anticipated “Spirit of Goa” festival, which took place from May 17th to May 19th at the SAG Ground in Colva, South Goa, and was organized by the Department of Tourism, concluded with great excitement. The festival celebrated Goa’s vibrant music scene and left attendees with unforgettable experiences.

Mr. Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, Director of Tourism and Managing Director of GTDC, emphasized the importance of events like the Spirit of Goa in preserving and promoting Goan music, food, and traditional dances. He highlighted the festival as a platform for local artists to showcase their talents, attract tourism, and build a sense of community among attendees. By showcasing both the unique traditions and modern expressions of Goan culture, festivals like these play a crucial role in sustaining and enriching the state’s identity for future generations to come.

The goal of the Spirit of Goa festival was to celebrate Goan culture through music, cuisine, and community engagement. The event provided a stage for showcasing traditional dances, music, and food, while also featuring a diverse range of products, beverages, cuisines, and handicrafts crafted from coconut and cashew. Attendees had the opportunity to explore different varieties of locally made spirits such as urrak, feni, and niro. Furthermore, visitors could participate in clay pot making workshops to experience the rich heritage of traditional Goan crafts firsthand.

“The event featured an impressive lineup of performances that highlighted Goa’s diverse musical talents. Audiences were captivated by shows from Forefront, Pure Magic, and The Imperial, as well as the traditional Goan dances by the renowned Kanta Gaude Troupe. Other standout acts included performances by Hema Sardesai and sets by Altitude, Jukebox Trio, 24K India, Crimson Tide, and Band Ambassadors. The artists’ energy and passion ensured the festival ended on a high note, with lively beats and enthusiastic crowd participation.
