“Amdar Chashak” Cricket Tournament Inaugurated at the Hands of TM Khaunte
Porvorim, Goa | 21 May 2026 – The much-awaited “Amdar Chashak” league Cricket Tournament for men and women was grandly inaugurated today evening at the hands of Hon’ble Tourism & IT Minister and Porvorim MLA Rohan A. Khaunte at Salvador Do Mundo ground, Porvorim.
The tournament, which kicked off from today 21st May will continue till 24th May 2026 at the Salvador do Mundo Ground, Porvorim. This Amdar Chashak, has already generated tremendous excitement across the constituency. More than 70 men’s and women’s teams from across Porvorim are playing in this league tournament, with the grand finals scheduled for Sunday, 24 May 2026 at the same venue.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by ZP Member Sandip Salgaonkar, Amit Asnodkar, Sarpanch Swapnil Chodankar, Sonia Pednekar, Porvorim BJP Mandal president Vinit Parab as well as Panch members, participating teams, cricket enthusiasts, and several dignitaries & cricket lovers.
As part of the ceremony, the official tournament trophy and jerseys of the participating teams were unveiled yesterday at ART PARK Porvorim, marking the formal commencement of the mega sporting event. The occasion witnessed enthusiastic participation from players, supporters, and local residents, reflecting the growing sporting spirit in Porvorim.
Addressing the gathering after the unveiling ceremony, Shri Rohan Khaunte said, “Amdar Chashak is not just a tournament, but a celebration of sportsmanship, unity, and youth talent. The enthusiasm among players and cricket lovers clearly reflects the vibrant sporting culture emerging in Porvorim.”
Porvorim Rising have invited all captains, players, supporters, and fellow Porvorkars to attend the matches in large numbers and make the tournament a grand success. The tournament is expected to draw huge crowds and create a vibrant cricketing atmosphere across the constituency over the next 3 days.
