CM holds talks with Cardinal on SFX Exposition Prep Work
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant met with Archbishop Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrao at the Archbishop’s House in Altinho, Panaji to discuss the arrangements for the upcoming Exposition of the Relics of St Francis Xavier in Old Goa. The Exposition is scheduled to take place from November 21, 2024, to January 5, 2025.
Following the meeting, Sawant briefed reporters on the discussions held, which included topics such as ensuring law and order, infrastructure improvements in the surrounding areas of the Old Goa church and other locations, as well as establishing protocols for national and international guests attending the Exposition.

Given that the Exposition is an important international event that occurs every ten years, Sawant stated that various aspects of readiness and overall preparedness were covered during the meeting.
The Chief Minister has formally asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to extend an invitation to Pope Francis for the Exposition. Expressing optimism, he stated, “I am hopeful that the Pope will consider the invitation.” Additionally, Sawant mentioned that the state government has reached out to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to allocate funds amounting to Rs 300 crores for the Exposition.
