Department of IT, Electronics and Communications (DITEC) launches Tourism AI Chatbot for Goa

Dona Paula, September 24, 2026: To accelerate digital transformation and promote safe, authentic tourism, the Department of Information Technology, Electronics & Communications (DITE&C), in collaboration with the Department of Tourism, Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) and Goa Electronics Limited (GEL), has officially launched the Goa Tourism AI Chatbot. Released initially as a Beta version for further refinement, the AI-powered assistant is designed to provide visitors and residents with trusted, verified government information regarding Goa Tourism and GTDC services.

The launch took place during the Goa Yuva Tourism Meet 2026, at the hands of Shri. Rohan Khaunte, Hon’ble Minister for Information Technology, Electronics & Communications and Tourism. Key dignitaries present at the launch included, Shri. Kabir Shirgaonkar, Director, DITE&C, Shri. Kedar Naik, Director, Goa Tourism, Shri. Kuldeep Arolkar, Chairman, GTDC, Shri. Jack Ajit Sukhija, President, Travel and Tourism Association of Goa (TTAG) and Smt. Revati Kumar, CEO, GEL.

Integrating AI into tourism marks a natural evolution for Goa’s digital ecosystem. Speaking on how the chatbot safeguards travelers by delivering authentic government information, Hon’ble Minister Shri. Rohan Khaunte said, “In my previous tenure, I laid the foundation with the IT and Startup policies, the current focus is centered on deploying artificial intelligence for practical public solutions. While numerous private portals already exist, travelers often find unverified accommodations online. With this Tourism AI Chatbot, tourists can get secured, verified stay options and really enjoy Goa. If you have any query, you can converse with the bot, multi-lingual conversational support is available.”

The Tourism AI chatbot directly addresses traveler questions about verified stays, authentic cultural experiences, safe transit and local transport with a simple ‘Chat with Us’ feature. Currently live on both the official Goa Tourism website and the GTDC portal, the chatbot offers multi-lingual assistance in English and Hindi, with Marathi and Konkani to follow. It guides users through GTDC hotels and registered private stays, provides transit help to reach Goa and travel within the state. It also includes built-in support for raising and tracking inquiry tickets.

This launch represents a continuous expansion of DITE&C’s AI roadmap, following the introduction of the Goa Online AI Chatbot on the Goa Online portal in February and its integration onto WhatsApp just yesterday (September 23). Extending this conversational AI framework to tourism, one of Goa’s primary economic pillars, paves the way for similar AI integrations across other government departments in upcoming phases as DITE&C continues to improve public service delivery and AI adoption across the state.
