Goa Tourism Reinforces Commitment to Safe, Secure and Responsible Tourism at National Conclave on Safe & Secure Hospitality

Hon’ble Tourism Minister Mr. Rohan A. Khaunte calls for shared responsibility, stronger safety standards and collaborative action across the hospitality ecosystem

Goa, June 18: Goa Tourism participated in the National Conclave on Safe & Secure Hospitality, a two-day industry forum organised by the Fire & Security Association of India (FSAI), that focused on advancing fire safety, security management, risk mitigation and regulatory compliance across the hospitality sector. The conclave brought together hospitality leaders, policymakers and industry stakeholders from across the country to deliberate on emerging challenges, evolving safety frameworks and best practices within the hospitality ecosystem.

Addressing the inaugural session, Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Government of Goa, Mr. Rohan A. Khaunte, emphasized that safety and security must remain at the heart of tourism development and cannot be viewed as the responsibility of any single stakeholder.

“The true measure of hospitality is not how warmly we welcome our guests, but how responsibly we protect them. Safety is not a cost; it is an investment in trust, and trust remains the most valuable asset any hospitality establishment can possess,” he said.

Speaking on the theme of the conclave, the Minister noted that ensuring visitor safety must be a shared responsibility across the entire tourism value chain. He stated that every stakeholder, from hospitality establishments and tourism service providers to allied businesses, plays a critical role in maintaining safety standards, building visitor confidence and safeguarding Goa’s reputation as a preferred tourism destination.

“As one of India’s leading tourism destinations, Goa is constantly in the spotlight. Even isolated incidents can impact destination perception and visitor confidence. This makes accountability, preparedness and regular safety assessments critical. Strengthening safety standards requires government, industry, hospitality establishments and institutions to work together towards a common goal,” he said.

The Minister further noted that tourism has emerged as one of the key pillars of India’s growth story and stressed that its long-term success will depend on responsible growth, strong stakeholder participation and a continued focus on visitor safety and experience. Reiterating Goa Tourism’s commitment to regenerative tourism and the Goa Beyond Beaches initiative, he noted that as the State continues to diversify its offerings across wellness, ecotourism, adventure, culinary and spiritual tourism, maintaining high standards of safety and visitor well-being remains fundamental to Goa’s tourism vision.
