Merces Road Submerged in Water. Chief of AAP and a Social Activist Pay a Visit to the Area

Amit Palekar, the President of AAP in Goa, stated that inadequate planning during project implementation has resulted in the flooding of the road leading to Merces from Panaji. Accompanied by social activist Tanoj Adwalpalkar, Palekar visited the flooded area in Merces with a group of media personnel.

According to Palekar, the accumulation of debris in the field has caused water to overflow onto the main road. He emphasized the importance of proper planning by the Public Works Department (PWD) during road construction. Additionally, Palekar expressed concern over the deteriorating condition of Merces, describing it as a dumping ground for garbage, with no attention from the local panchayats towards the welfare of the residents.

Palekar warned that should the water levels on the road continue to rise, the residents of Merces may find themselves isolated from Panaji.

Adwalkar pointed out that the debris generated from the Smart city construction has been improperly disposed of in the fields of Merces.
