
MLA Porvorim Shri. Rohan A. Khaunte Promotes Healthy Living Through ‘Less Oil, Less Gas’ Cooking Competition
Porvorim, June 19, 2026: Reaffirming his commitment to Mahila Shakti and community well-being, Shri. Rohan A. Khaunte, MLA of Porvorim and Minister for Tourism, attended the Healthy Cooking Competition organised by BJP Mahila Morcha, Porvorim Constituency. Held under the theme “Less Oil, Less Gas”, the initiative brought together over 100 women who showcased nutritious and innovative recipes while promoting healthier cooking practices, wellness and responsible resource consumption.
The event was attended by Smt. Suvarna Tendulkar, State President, BJP Mahila Morcha, along with office bearers of the BJP Mahila Morcha, elected representatives, party workers and community members from across the constituency. The competition was successfully organised under the leadership of Smt. Reena Fernandes, President, BJP Mahila Morcha, Porvorim Constituency, along with members of the Mahila Morcha.
Addressing the gathering, Shri. Rohan A. Khaunte highlighted the BJP’s core pillars of Mahila Shakti, Kisan Shakti, Yuva Shakti, and Garib Kalyan, emphasising that women remain at the centre of nation-building and social progress. He spoke about the various initiatives undertaken to improve the quality of life and dignity of women, including the creation of essential infrastructure and welfare measures, while underscoring the importance of health, nutrition and fitness in everyday life.
Linking the initiative to the vision of Fit India, Fit Goa and Fit Porvorim, the Minister encouraged families to adopt healthier food habits and make informed lifestyle choices. He noted that today’s women are excelling across sectors and playing a transformative role in shaping stronger families and communities.
“The strength of every society lies in the health and empowerment of its women. Through initiatives such as this Healthy Cooking Competition, we are not only encouraging nutritious eating habits but also creating awareness about preventive healthcare and wellness. When women lead the way in adopting healthy lifestyles, they inspire positive change across entire families and communities. This is the essence of our commitment to Mahila Shakti and a healthier, fitter India,” said Shri Rohan A. Khaunte.
A nutrition awareness session was also conducted by Dr. Kanhanya Sirsat of PHC Porvorim, who highlighted the importance of balanced diets and healthy eating habits in preventing lifestyle-related illnesses.
Following the programme, the Minister interacted with participants, visited every display counter and sampled the dishes prepared by the contestants. Five participants were felicitated for their outstanding culinary creations.
The event concluded on a positive note, celebrating the spirit of women’s empowerment, healthy living and community participation while reaffirming the BJP Mahila Morcha’s continued efforts towards creating greater awareness on issues that directly impact families and society.
