Shack Owners Thank Tourism Director for Proactive Engagement
Panaji, 11th April 2025 – In a significant development for the traditional shack community, Mr. Manuel Cardozo, President of the All Goa Traditional Beach Shack Owners, has extended his heartfelt gratitude to the Director of Tourism for taking the time to personally listen to the concerns of shack operators.
During the meeting, key issues impacting the functioning of beach shacks were raised, including challenges related to garbage management, noise levels, and the growing presence of unregulated vendors along the coastline. Mr. Cardozo expressed appreciation for the Department’s assurance that corrective action would be initiated at the earliest.
“We are confident that the pressing issues, particularly those affecting cleanliness and vendor regulation, will be taken up on priority. The Director, on behalf of the Department, has also encouraged us to approach him directly with any future concerns,” said Mr. Cardozo.
He further added that while immediate changes may not be visible this season, there is renewed optimism that by the next tourism cycle, the sector will witness tangible improvements and a more structured approach to beach management.
