Accessibility partner Svayam conducts sensitisation training for volunteers and officials at IFFI
Goa, November 2024: As the highly anticipated International Film Festival of India (IIFI) 2024 kicks off, Svayam, a pioneering accessibility organization, has set the tone by conducting a comprehensive sensitization training session for over 200 volunteers and officials. The training, held on 18th November 2024 at Inox, Entertainment Society of Goa, focused on raising awareness about the basic etiquette that needs to be kept in mind while interacting with people with reduced mobility.
In addition to the sensitization session, Svayam engaged participants in a simulation exercise designed to provide first-hand understanding of the barriers faced by people with reduced mobility. This immersive experience allowed volunteers and officials to understand the daily struggles that they endure, enabling them to offer more informed and thoughtful assistance.
Svayam’s commitment to raising awareness and promoting accessibility has been pivotal in making IIFI 2024 not only a celebration of cinema but also by ensuring that people with reduced mobilities have an accessible and comfortable experience throughout the event. The organization continues to highlight the importance of creating spaces that are welcoming and accessible to all.
About Svayam:
Svayam is a leading accessibility organisation that aims to reform infrastructure and transportation to make it accessible for people with reduced mobility. Accessibility aids individuals and gives them the freedom to independently explore the built environment around them, irrespective of their physical capabilities. This was on philanthropist-business visionary Sminu Jindal’s mind when she founded Svayam in October 2000. An initiative of the Sminu Jindal Charitable Trust, Svayam is a not-for-profit accessibility pioneer that focuses on creating a barrier-free world for all.
