SVEEP Activity Conducted at Sanjay School, Porvorim

SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) activity was conducted at Sanjay School in Porvorim for Persons with Disability (PWD) by the Assistant Electoral Registration Officer of Porvorim AC. The focus of the activity was to introduce the Saksham App of the Election Commission of India to the participants.

The purpose of the session was to educate, raise awareness, and encourage voting rights among the electors. The program commenced with a welcoming address by Urvashi U. Naik, AERO of Porvorim AC, who discussed the significance of SVEEP as a flagship program of the ECI aimed at promoting voter literacy and awareness in India. She also provided insights into the Saksham application developed by the ECI, emphasizing how it simplifies the enrolment and registration process for PWD voters and the support available.

The Assistant Returning Officer for 09-Porvorim AC, Shubham Naik provided information on the initiatives undertaken by the Election Commission of India to ensure that the electoral process is accessible for voters with disabilities. He also highlighted the rights of PWD voters and emphasized the importance of voting.

The Principal of the institute, Kudalkar, also spoke at the event. Taha H., Secretary of the Commission for Persons with Disability, delivered a keynote address on the significance of electors and the election process in a democratic society.

Booth Level Officers demonstrated how a PwD voter can cast their vote at a polling station on election day. Additionally, a slogan-writing and recitation activity was organized for the students of the school.
