Two Goan Creators Shine at National-Level Mental Health Reel Competition in Udupi
Two talented Goan creators have brought laurels to the state by securing top honours at a mental health reel competition organised in Udupi as part of the World Mental Health Day 2026 awareness programme.
Rameez Shaikh clinched first place, while Mario Pimenta secured the runner-up position, showcasing the creativity and talent of Goan content creators on a wider platform.
The competition was jointly organised by Dr A. V. Baliga Hospital, Udupi; Kamal A. Baliga Charitable Trust; Lions Club Manipal; Lions Club of Udupi Lakshya and Lions District 317 C Indian Medical Association, Udupi-Karavali.
Rameez Shaikh, a filmmaker and social media content creator who is currently exploring the sports content niche, secured first place with his reel highlighting the issue of screen addiction. The video featured Aarif Shaikh as the protagonist and creatively brought attention to the growing concerns surrounding excessive screen time and its impact on mental well-being.
Mario Pimenta, a young filmmaker and Instagram creator, secured the runner-up position with his reel focusing on stress management and the importance of prioritising mental health. Known for his humorous reels and entertaining content, Mario also believes in using his creative platform to create opportunities for others and reach wider audiences through engaging storytelling.
Both creators chose meaningful themes and used the power of short-form video content to spread awareness about important mental health issues, demonstrating that social media can be more than just a platform for entertainment.
Their achievements are not only a proud moment for Goa but also a testament to the growing potential of Goan digital creators. By combining creativity, storytelling and social awareness, Rameez Shaikh and Mario Pimenta have proved that content creators from Goa can make their mark beyond state boundaries while using their influence to bring about positive change in society.
