A Festival is Celebrated Every Month in Goa: Minister Khaunte
Year-Round Festival Calendar Transforms Tourism in Goa
Porvorim, March 26, 2025 – Goa is redefining its tourism landscape by placing culture at the heart of its strategy. Speaking during the 9th Session of the Goa Legislative Assembly, Tourism Minister Rohan A. Khaunte stated a year-round festival calendar created last year, has sustained tourist engagement beyond the peak season and established Goa as a global cultural tourism hub.
Goa’s vibrant traditions, festivals, and folklore will be showcased to the world, with São João, Chikal Kalo, Bonderam, Veerbhadra, and Shigmo emerging as flagship cultural attractions. These festivals will provide immersive experiences, enabling visitors to engage with Goa’s living heritage and dynamic community-driven tourism model. Additionally, initiatives to promote MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism, wellness tourism, and eco- tourism are being actively pursued to cater to both domestic and international markets.
Further strengthening this vision, the government’s Goa Beyond Beaches initiative ensures that hinterland destinations, heritage trails, adventure tourism, and Ekadasha Teertha circuits gain prominence. By promoting sustainable and regenerative tourism, Goa is creating a model that balances cultural preservation with economic growth, ensuring that local communities directly benefit from the state’s thriving tourism industry.
Minister Khaunte reiterated that Goa is no longer just a seasonal beach destination—it is evolving into an immersive cultural experience, attracting quality-driven tourism throughout the year.
