New Campus Innovation Scheme to assist student innovators

Inculcating innovation at college campuses, DITE&C’s new scheme under Goa Startup Policy aims to support student-driven innovation and research in Goa’s educational institutions

Panaji, 2025: In an effort to nurture early-stage innovation and strengthen Goa’s startup ecosystem, the Department of Information Technology, Electronics and Communications (DITE&C) under the leadership of Hon’ble Minister Shri Rohan Khaunte, has introduced the Campus Innovation Scheme under the Goa Startup Policy 2025.

One of the four new initiatives under the policy, which comprises a total of 12 schemes, the Campus Innovation Scheme is designed to promote student-driven innovation and research across Goa’s educational institutions. It offers a reimbursement of up to Rs 50,000 per application and covers actual project expenses only.

Speaking about the objective behind the scheme, a DITE&C official stated, “The intent behind this scheme is to not just provide financial support for prototyping and research, but to encourage students to build innovative projects and promote entrepreneurship culture within campuses.”
The scheme will support a maximum of 10 beneficiaries per financial year. Eligible applicants must be bonafide students from UCG-recognised institutions in Goa and applications must be submitted through the respective college committees.

Colleges are required to form a selection committee as per guidelines and identify projects that are sustainable, in emerging technologies, something technical and not routine.

The application process involves submission of proposals through the college, followed by college recommendation, evaluation by the Startup and IT Promotion Cell (SITPC) and reimbursement post expenditure. To ensure accountability and track progress, the respective institute must submit quarterly reports to SITPC in the prescribed format.

A meeting with Training and Placement Officers (TPOs) from various institutions was also held in November at the Department of Information Technology, Electronics and Communications, Altinho-Panjim, to communicate the scheme details and encourage active participation.

Empowering students to explore emerging technologies and translate their ideas into prototypes and impactful solutions, the Campus Innovation Scheme is a launchpad for young student innovators, preparing them for the next stage of their entrepreneurial journey.
