
Principal Correspondent of the Times of India Nida Sayyed honored with the Freedom Fighter Berta Menezes Braganca Memorial Award 2026
Principal Correspondent of the Times of India, Nida Sayyed, has been honored with the Freedom Fighter Berta Menezes Braganca Memorial Award 2026. This prestigious accolade celebrates her exceptional service and dedication to the field of journalism, recognizing her contributions as a meritorious woman in the industry.
Nida Sayed is a national media journalist working with the Times of India since 2014. She is at the position of principal correspondent at the TOI Goa Centre.
While several of her articles have received national coverage, two of her articles resulted in the High Court taking suo motu cognizance and initiating action against the government. One was on the issue surrounding the controversial demolition of the Kala Academy building published in 2019 and the other was about centuries-old books at the Goa state Central library being at risk of damage due to neglect, published in 2023.
An alumni of Goa University, with a Masters in English, she has authored three books, having written her debut novel at the age of 18 years. She is also an active member of the Goa Writers Club. Nida spends her free time playing the piano and composing poetry, when she’s not busy chasing a news story.
