Goan AI Film Job Needed Selected for Serbia’s First AI Film Festival
Goan AI film Job Needed, directed by Mario Pimenta, has been officially selected for the AI Film Fest Serbia from among 497 submissions representing 48 countries. The festival, the first AI-focused film festival in Serbia, will be held on 26 and 27 June 2026 at the Faculty of Contemporary Arts (Fakultet savremenih umetnosti) in Belgrade, Serbia.
Job Needed is one of Goa’s first AI-generated films and follows the story of Johnbot, an AI entity revived 100 years after a devastating AI war. Searching for purpose in a transformed world, Johnbot attempts to find employment but is repeatedly rejected by advanced AI systems that ironically favour humans over their own kind. Through its narrative, the film explores themes of identity, displacement, and the evolving relationship between humans and artificial intelligence.
The film had its premiere at the AI Cinema Showcase during the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi. It was later screened at multiple locations across India as part of the First Film Fest organized by IIT Bombay.
AI Film Fest Serbia is the first festival in the country dedicated exclusively to films created using artificial intelligence. The event aims to bring together art, technology, and innovation while exploring the future of filmmaking and digital storytelling.
The festival is organized by the Faculty of Contemporary Arts (FSU) and the Information Technology School (ITS) in Belgrade. The festival is led by Festival Director Valentin Kuleto, with Milena Ilić serving as Executive Producer.
With its selection at AI Film Fest Serbia, Job Needed continues its international festival journey, highlighting Goa’s growing presence in the field of AI-powered filmmaking. The selection also reflects the increasing recognition of Indian AI cinema on the global stage, while encouraging filmmakers to explore new possibilities at the intersection of technology and storytelling.
