Goa drives citizen-centric e-governance with state-wide Digital India awareness workshop
Digital India State Awareness Workshop paves the way for seamless governance in Goa
Porvorim, June 9, 2026: In an effort to strengthen citizen-centric service delivery through centralized digital platforms across the state, a one-day Digital India State Awareness Workshop was held today at the Seminar Hall, Secretariat, Porvorim. Driven by the visionary leadership of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa, Dr. Pramod Sawant and Hon’ble ITE&C Minister, Shri. Rohan Khaunte, this initiative aims to empower the citizens of Goa by ensuring government departments successfully onboard and integrate these national platforms into their daily operations.
The workshop was organized by the Department of Information Technology, Electronics & Communications (DITE&C), Government of Goa, in collaboration with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, through the National e-Governance Division (NeGD). The event brought together senior heads of departments and officials from across the state to streamline the digital transition.
Speaking about the importance of the initiative, Shri. Kabir Shirgaonkar, Director, DITE&C, shared, “This workshop is vital for making public services more accessible and efficient. By adopting these centralised national platforms, be it DigiLocker, Umang or MyScheme, state departments can eliminate bureaucratic friction, reduce processing times and deliver a faster, hassle-free experience to the citizens of Goa.”
The inaugural session was held in the presence of Dr. Milind Sakhardande, Joint Director, DITE&C, Smt. Sharda Katare, Head SeMT, NeGD, along with session speakers from NeGD, including Smt. Nikita Dogra, Shri. Sarvesh Kumar and Shri. Ramakant Baunthiyal.
The workshop featured a series of interactive presentations led by the expert NeGD team. The presentation on DigiLocker demonstrated how by integrating state departments to the platform, Goan citizens can instantly access all their documents online. The session also introduced Entity Locker, which extends these same paperless benefits to institutions, companies, startups and other entities.
Another key session highlighted the UMANG mobile application and the MyScheme platform, which allows integration and access to major central and state government services from a single interface. Participants also engaged in a presentation on API Setu that focused on how the platform enables quick, effortless integration of government databases to make public service delivery faster. Additionally, the session explored Meri Pehchaan, a unified Single Sign-On (SSO) service that eliminates the hassle of managing multiple credentials, allowing citizens to securely access with just one login.
Through continued awareness programmes, technical workshops and policy-focused engagements, DITE&C aims to strengthen institutional readiness across government departments and foster a citizen-first ecosystem where every Goan can access public services safely, transparently and more effortlessly.
