When a person does mild to moderate amount of exercise, the blood circulation to the muscle around the bone and the bone itself increases.

This stimulates growth and new bone formation in younger age groups and to increase the strength and quality of bone in the elderly. Moreover, exercise also helps to keep the joints mobile, and weight under control which also reduces the risk of progression of arthritis, which is a common occurrence with osteoporotic.

The literature recommends at least half an hour of brisk walking for the elderly every day to improve bone strength and general health and well-being.

However, Certain type of exercise are known to cause beneficial effects in osteoporosis. These include strength training exercises, balance exercises, and movement exercises.

Before you begin any form of exercise you have to undergo a risk assessment for fractures(BMD)
