VISL Plantation Drive Welcomes Dr. Pramod Sawant, Hon’ble CM, Goa

Dr. Pramod Sawant, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa, graced the occasion as Chief Guest at the plantation drive organised by Vedanta Iron And Steel Limited (VISL) at the Koneshwar Temple, Amona. The initiative, undertaken as part of the Company’s ‘From Earth, For Earth’ campaign , aligns with the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ movement. Under this green commitment, VISL, Iron Ore Business aims to plant 1 Lac+ saplings across its operational locations.

The plantation drive was one among the several initiatives undertaken BY VISL to mark the World Environment Day 2026. By integrating plantation as a measure not only for furthering environmental aims but also as a means to meaningfully engage community members, VISL is focused on fostering ensuring and tangible progress towards a more sustainable future.

During the event, Dr. Pramod Sawant, Hon’ble CM-Goa, expressed his thoughts on how the collaboration between corporates, communities, and village panchayats positively impacts outcomes, saying that “Under the vision of PM’s ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative and our state’s ‘Clean Goa, Green Goa’ mission, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Vedanta, the Amona Gram Panchayat, and the Amona Devasthan Committee for coming together today. I am highly pleased to see Vedanta stepping up in a big way to drive this vision forward in the Amona region. This exemplary partnership between corporate leadership, local panchayats, and religious committees is exactly what we need to secure a cleaner, greener future for Goa.

The event drew strength from a robust gathering of community leaders, village elders, senior leadership and executives from the VISL Team. The initiative successfully underscored the unified vision of building a cleaner, greener Goa, rooted firmly in the principles of sustainability.

As part of the World Environment Day 2026, VISL also undertook activities such as essay writing, poster making, skits, awareness campaigns , plantation drives and cleanliness drives across locations.
