Exit Support Scheme Launched for Sick Industrial Units
The Goa government recently introduced the Exit Support Scheme to assist the owners of 423 sick industrial units in reviving their operations. During the launch of the scheme, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant highlighted that approximately 12.75 lakh sq mt of land has been vacant due to the non-functioning industries.
Under this initiative, interested entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to acquire land for their units, leading to job creation for the local community. Chief Minister Sawant emphasized that the Industrial Development Corporation often receives requests for industrial plots, and this scheme will provide a solution for the current leaseholders looking to exit.
Previously, there was no support policy available for sick units, but with the introduction of the Exit Support Scheme, these units can now benefit from the government’s assistance. Sawant also expressed the government’s preference for eco-friendly units and encouraged investors to consider setting up their operations in the coastal state.
Goa Chief Minister, Sawant, expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, stating that it will attract new businesses and revitalize nonfunctional units. The process of transfer has been simplified to encourage new entrepreneurs to establish their businesses in Goa. Sawant urged aspiring entrepreneurs to consider setting up their businesses in the state, highlighting the availability of plots provided by the IDC in the 24 industrial estates across Goa.
